WHAT YOU NEED TO KEEP ON HAND
Non-perishable stables serve multiple purposes. They are utilized in some meal prep, but also provide a fall back to use in the event you are stranded somewhere unexpectedly without access to fresh foods
Some staples are also used for survival and medical purposes, with more detailed information found in the Boat Medicine sections
Dry powders like sugar and flour are best stored in air tight square containers for ease of access and storage stacking. Here's your list:
- Salt/Pepper
- Salt substitute (with potassium) - has medical uses as well.
- 2.5lb sugar
- 2.5lb AP flour
- sugar cubes (can be dissolved under the tongue in diabetic emergencies)
- assorted beef and chicken bullion cubes (can be used for heat and dehydration medical issues)
- dry rice (can dry your electronics in an emergency if you have enough)
- dry beans of your preferred variety
- powdered milk
- dry general purpose biscuit mix (Bisquick, etc.)
- chocolate and/or vanilla flavored dry protein powder mix
- saltine crackers in and airtight container (can assist with nausea)
- powdered electrolyte drink mixes (for general help with dehydration, nausea, vomiting, heat emergencies)
Canned/Bottled/Jar Staples
- honey - this has antibacterial and medical uses many are not aware of
- canned tuna
- canned chicken
- peanut butter
- evaporated milk
- vegetable oil
- small assortment of canned vegetables and fruits
- canned vegetable broth
